Taking a survey on kids and allowances: My kids do not get an allowance for doing chores....it is part of their responsibility as a member of the household. This is for things like laundry, vacuuming, cleaning their room/kitchen/bathroom, etc. My older girls work in my business so they get paid for that because it is optional and a job. They all have to pay half for extra things that they want (iPod, designer boots, etc) and that money comes from birthdays, holidays, etc. Half goes in the bank, half goes to whatever they want. I follow Dave Ramseys financial principles for our household debt (more on that at a later date) and on a podcast that I was listening to tonight, he said that kids should be paid for chores, starting at age 3. What does everyone else do? Does it work? What is your end goal in deciding your method of kids and money management? Facebook always gives me a diverse data set :) Looking to see what you think.....
