Taking some big, deep breaths, and feeling grateful. I took - TopicsExpress

Taking some big, deep breaths, and feeling grateful. I took Lachlan to emergency last night. I was doing 125km an hour, driving like a bat out of hell - or like a mother whose baby is having difficulty breathing and doesnt trust an ambulance to arrive fast enough. He was grunting, nostrils flaring, chest dipping in and out... I arrived at Sunshine to find an enormous queue. Luckily he seemed to be breathing easier by then so I waited, whilst internally wanting to pound the reception window down. Many hours and his breathing had normalised, he presented as completely fine to the doctors, so we returned home. A challenging night ensued with Callum waking repeatedly and complaining of a sore belly. Then at 1.30 am Lachlan woke with a ranging fever, hugely distressed and taking grunting breaths again. After 90 minutes of the fever not abating and the grunting continuing I called 000. The ambulance arrived very fast. And hilariously he immediately perked right up and looked as right as rain! Unbelievable. Anyway, the hospital and ambos were all great and didnt make me feel like a fool for presenting a perfectly healthy child! And Im hugely grateful for both our amazing free hospital system, and for a little boy who just wont be kept down. How very, very appreciative I am that he did not need to be admitted or need help with breathing, as he did when he was born. Yay for beautiful, hearty, mostly healthy baby boy.
