Taylor had a good day yesterday. The favorite gift that he - TopicsExpress

Taylor had a good day yesterday. The favorite gift that he received was the clay pigeons and shells that will include an outing with his baby brother, Tanner. These were from Tanner and they were right up Taylors alley! Having Tanner home has been such a blessing and Tanner is so awesome at making his family a priority. I think that is pretty special for an 18 year old. He brings an incredible amount of joy to ALL of us, but most especially Taylor. He pulls some crazy antics just to give Taylor moments of laughter. What a gift Tanner is to our family! I always find myself thinking...I love that kid! Taylors favorite gifts to give were the hippo he gave his dad and the monkey he gave Tanner. Tanner asked for a live one. Taylor was quick to tell everyone that he wanted to give Tanner a live monkey, but I said no...so, off to Country Farm & Home again. You will see the pictures later! Taylor laughed hysterically and had some outrageous joy in giving these things. The sweetest gift of the day were words written to me with a small handmade item in a card. He wrote, Mom, Thanks for everything that you do for me and being truly faithful in my life!!! Even though its horrible. LOVE YOU (with a smiley), Love, Taylor. Please understand that brain injury can steal your joy on many levels and while Taylor is grateful for what he has, his heart hurts too. The holidays have been hard on many levels for him, and they have had an equal amount of joy. Inside of the card he placed a ring made of something similar to a bread-tie, because he thought he heard me say I wanted a ring. It was a sweet, sincere and very Taylor gift. Someone anonymously gave us three boxes of what might be called needful things...food, tp, cleaning supplies, etc. It was so humbling and thoughtful. Something in the boxes really made me smile. I RARELY buy detergent with fabric softener because to me it is a luxury but I love the way it smells and consider it a treat. (Please dont laugh, this is just a me thing). In the boxes were two bottles of Tide with Downy. And for me that is a big treat. As most of you know we have two sons in college and we are keeping two houses supplied. The gift was a beautiful reminder of what the holidays are about. Our Avery is in India...I like to say that he is not ready to change the world, but right now allowing the world to change him. A precious family member has given Avery the gift of traveling to India. We miss him a lot, and right now dont have communication with him which is hard. Allowing your kids to spread their wings means that they may not be home for Christmas, and I dont like that part at all. But I love and value the opportunities for Avery. I know he does as well. Thanks for reading about our some of our day. I truly hope your holidays feel merry and bright, but most of all that you are able to feel what the gift of your life and presence means to your friends and family. Love Wins.
