Teachers and Gurus are fallible like parents. They are human and born into the mayaic sphere. We must listen but also question their words at times and make sure it agrees with tradition, pratyaksha and shruti and not just accept what they say as infallible nor the final or correct word alone. The Aryan Rishis of India paved this path of many questions and self-investigations not simply blind faith in teachers or Gurus. Any who see themselves as such should hence be rejected, despite their so-called scholarly or social standing if against shruti and aitihya. -Durgadas
