Ten Things to Expect this summer at Stamford Bridge: Lets look - TopicsExpress

Ten Things to Expect this summer at Stamford Bridge: Lets look at another list of top 10 list of what we expect to take place at Stamford Bridge this summer following a promising season in which we are in a run to win the league title of the clutches of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool who are all behind with few points to spare behind us. You can let me know on which ones you agree or don’t agree through comments and all opinions are welcome from you guys..Enjoy the ride. 1. Players to be sold in order to make way for Star signings: Just like Jose Mourinho did this past January transfer window, the club will more than likely sale under performing players like Fernando Torres and Demba Ba. The two strikers did not feature more for Mourinho than did new summer arrival Samuel Eto’o. The Cameroonian as a result have netted in many important games like the hat trick against Manchester United and a winner against Liverpool. With Jose’s comments of how we would witness the arrival of a new top center forward in the summer, it might be time to say good bye to Fernando Torres and Demba Ba whose total of goals in the premier league can’t even much that of our on-loan striker at Everton, Romelu Lukaku. 2. NEW ARRIVALS; Specially that of a striker: New arrivals would have to come in if surplus to requirement players are to leave the club. And we expect big name signing especially that of a striker to fill in the void left by Torres, Ba and also Samuel Eto’o if he departs. Jose Mourinho has made it clear in quotes that he would sign a forward that can assuredly lead the line at the Bridge for the ‘next 10 years’. And other signings expected will be at the Left back position where Ashley Cole is likely not to extend his contract after being frozen out by Azpilicueta who is naturally a RB. 3. Ashley Cole to leave? As mentioned above, the veteran English Left back is on a verge of missing out on the world cup even though Jose Mourinho insists that he should be picked since the Chelsea star helped the three lions qualify for the tournament in Brazil. Cole might be lined of an MLS future or maybe a move to other European leagues if he is not offered a contract or simply decides to end the hoodoo of Jose’s selection head ache for an established star like him. 4. Luke Shaw to sign for a record sum for a full back to replace Cole: Whether Cole leaves or stays won’t likely depend on the signing of Luke Shaw who is strongly targeted by not only Chelsea but, Manchester United and City as well. The 18 year old is a well known Chelsea fan and has performed incredibly well at Southampton for two years now in the premier league. With the youngster already competing for a place in the world cup squad with Cole, it won’t be a surprise to see him at Stamford Bridge this summer. 5. John Terry to get a contract extension of not only one but TWO years: Stamford Bridge captain has been a solid rock at the heart of Mourinho’s defense which has been key so far in the Blues surge in the title race. Terry has insisted a lot of times to the media that he can’t see himself representing any other team but, the team he made himself at after graduating from the academy. He is in a good position even to win the PFA player of the year award at the age of 33 if Chelsea end up winning the premier league trophy. If so then, why only offer him a one year contract when he certainly deserves to end his career at Chelsea despite being a starter or not? We will see what happens by May, but JT is surely to stay for another and hopefully the remaining years of his career at Stamford bridge. 6. And so does Frank Lampard: FAnother veteran of the Blues and already a legend, Frank Lampard will more than likely sign a new contract extension for another year at Chelsea. No one expected for him and John Terry to feature under Mourinho like they are this season but, only the Special one knows the value of their experience unlike our previous interim manager from a year ago. It is likely that Super Frank will extend his stay at the Bridge as he is set to feature in a world cup at the age of 35 and he has been a reliant member of Jose Mourinho’s line-up this season. 7. Thibaut Courtois to finally stay at the Bridge and battle with Cech for the No. 1 spot: The Belgian goal keeper has been more than impressive in his performances for Atletico Madrid who are in tight battle at the top of La Liga against Real Madrid and Barcelona. Despite rumors that the player has asked for assurances that he will be a starter at the club in order to stay, Mourinho has insured he will return at the bridge and contend for the starting place with Petr Cech in all competitions. We might likely see a shuffling of opportunities for both keepers like it’s happening at Real Madrid between Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas. 8. Romelu Lukaku to be in plans of Mourinho’s squad too: Another Belgian who has impressed on-loan is Romelu Lukaku. The powerful forward has scored in many appearances for Everton in the premier league and Jose Mourinho might finally give a chance to prove his worth in a top club. The striker wants Champions league football starting next year and he may get that if he remains humble and stop giving silly interviews about chances like he did earlier this season. It is likely that he will be a back for who ever is the starting striker at the bridge next year. 9. Costa, Falcao, Cavani or Ballotelli? Jose Mourinho would have to make some big choices for a center forward signing that he would have to make this summer. He has flirted with the option of bringing Falcao to the bridge as he said last week that center forward doesn’t have ‘a team’ while he has no striker to fire in goals. When it comes to Diego Costa, rumors have claimed that a verbal agreement has been reached for a 32m pound transfer in June. And Ballotelli might be looking for an option to go to a trophy winning team as Milan despite his goal services are struggling to make into a European stage qualification. Edinson Cavani is another target who is looking to leave his club as a result of being played out of position and struggling to command a starting main center forward role that Jose can offer him at Stamford Bridge. ktbffh
