Tension was mounting in Longewuan between Pokot and Samburu communities over water and pasture. Residents of Samburu were up in arms complaining that Pokot herders were forcefully watering their livestock in a small dam with diminishing water. But the Pokot argued that they had been forced by circumstances to use their neighbours water resource saying this was the only way they could save their animals from possible death. During a meeting between the two communities, a resolution was reached that the Pokot go back to their county and further stop watering their livestock in Mpoori Dam. It took the intervention of Samburu and Baringo security team to avert a possible clash
