Testimonial: Dear FlyLady, I have two sets of purple rags. It seems a shame to call them rags, as they are such great tools. Its hard to believe that something as simple as a cloth can do such miracles, but they truly do. I live on a ranch and windows can become extremely dirty. Personally, I use white vinegar in warm water to wash windows. I use a soft scrubbing sponge to wash windows, then dry them with the purple rags. Windows sparkle and they stay clean for a long time. I also found a new use for them. We had used a product called Perma-dri to seal cracks in our wooden water tank. Its a thick, goopy, black stuff that really sticks when dry. I used my hair dryer to dry out the wood more quickly after draining the tank. I also used it to facilitate drying the goop. Consequently, I had patches of black, rubbery stuff on my white hair dryer and it looked awful. I tried various chemicals to try removing the patches from the plastic housing of the dryer, but they didnt work. I took one of the purple rags and began scrubbing with it, and surprisingly, the black, rubbery, patches came off and left my hair dryer looking nearly new. Unfortunately, now I have black, rubbery stuff on my purple rag and this stuff does not come off when washed. I guess Ill just have to retire this one cloth to outside needs where I dont mind getting black, rubbery stuff on ranch equipment. But I do have a nice white hair dryer. I absolutely love the organization I have learned from FlyLady - clean sink, tidy house, bed made every morning (my DH helps - he on his side, I on my side), swish and swipe in the bathrooms, decluttering a little at a time, and an organized office.
