Enjoy picturesque views of the scenic landscape, sown with pagodas and rural villages. Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley. Have lunch in Mai Chau then spend the afternoon trekking off the typical tourist track, along the Song Ma River. Trek through terraced rice paddies and small villages, discovering the natural beauty of the valley and encountering the culture of the White Thai people, living in the region. Stop at a Thai village for the night, having dinner with a local family and enjoying a homestay in their long house. Distance: 160 km or 100 miles. Overnight at Home Stay in Mai Chau Day 2: Mai Chau – Son La Enjoy a traditional breakfast at the homestay before driving to Son La. This gorgeous stretch of road is lined with stunning scenery. We will make frequent photo stops en route and visit the minority villages of the H’mong and Black Thai peoples. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant between Mai Chau and Son La, before visiting a tea plantation on Moc Chau plateau—Vietnam’s premier tea-growing region. Arrive in Son La—Vietnam’s most ethnically diverse region— in the afternoon. Have dinner and stay overnight in Son La. Distance: 187 km or 116 miles Overnight at Hotel in Son La Day 3: Son La – Dien Bien Today we continue along winding mountain roads through North Vietnam’s stunning countryside. Stop along the way for photo opportunities and to visit local villages, learning more about their unique cultures. After lunch, drive to the impressive Pha Din pass—a highlight of the day. Pha Din sits 1,000 meter or 3,280 feet above the sea level. According to local legend, “Pha Din” means the connection between Heaven and Earth. Arrive in Dien Bien Phu early in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day visiting the historical site of the Vietnamese / French War, including the Dien Bien Phu Museum and A 1 Hill. Have dinner and spend the night in Dien Bien Phu. Distance: 170 km or 105 miles Overnight at Hotel in Dien Bien Phu Day 4: Dien Bien – Lai Chau Today we drive from Dien Bien Phu to Lai Chau, passing the stunning gorges along the Nam Na River. Stop en route to visit some H’mong and Z’Dao villages. Arrive in Lai Chau in the early afternoon, have lunch at a local restaurant then enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Have dinner and stay overnight in Lai Chau. Distance: 180 km or 110 miles Overnight at Hotel in Lai Chau Day 5: Lai Chau - Sapa Today we travel by road from Lai Chau to Sapa. The road is a bit bumpy at times, but the rough route is quickly compensated by the magnificent scenery: yawning valleys, winding rivers, and canonical mountains—a photographer’s dream. The 25-mile drive to Sapa takes us up the Tram Son pass—the highest in Vietnam—and past views of the Fansipan Peak, known as “the roof of Indochine.” Stop en route to visit Heaven’s Gate and the Silver Waterfall. We arrive in Sapa in the afternoon. Nestled in a sweeping valley near the Chinese border, Sapa is Northwest Vietnam’s premier travel destination. Built in 1922 as a French colonial hill station, this quaint town is now a trekker’s paradise, offering hiking routes through terraced rice fields and enchanting hill tribe villages. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the colorful town on your own. Have dinner and stay overnight in Sapa. Hotel or hom stay in Sapa Day 6: Sapa -Thac Ba - Vu Linh . Thac Ba Lake is one of the largest and most beautiful artificial lakes of Vietnam. The lake was created as part of the hydroelectric plant project in Yen Bai in the 1960s. It boasts clear water surrounded by mountains and tropical forests. There are 30 different ethnic groups living in surrounding regions of Thac Ba Lake. Among them, Tay, Nung, Thai, Muong, Dzao and Kho Mu ethnic people still proudly keep their primitive traditions and customs. Vu Linh is one of the Dzao’s beautiful villages which is chosen by Vietnam motorbike tour experts to stay. The village is located close to the Thac Ba lake so we can have great chance to discover the beauty of the lake at any time. The driver to Vu Linh from Sapa is a light adventure. For the first half, we will driver on the wide and smooth high way No 2; for the second half, we will have a good discovery of Vietnam countryside by.after lunch is mostly through the rice paddies and small villages. We will be in Vu Linh at about 5 PM. Spend the rest time of the day to discover Thac Ba lake by a small local fishing boat. Overnight in Vu Linh – Homestay. Day 7: Vu Ling – Hanoi (180 km) Expert do their best to avoid the main busy road for as long as possible. We will driver longer to get to road No2B where there is less traffic. Then hit the road down to the Red River Delta. The roads are the mixture of both challenging track and different interest all the way back to Hanoi. Be at Hanoi before rush hour and end the enjoyable Northeast Vietnam tour.
