Thank you, David. In complete agreement. Not every premise has to go global, worse intergalactic. Not every sci-fi denouement has to determine the fate of all things great and small. Not every horror plot has to be authored by the forces of darkness . . . . Robert Bloch, and other writers of his class, understood that the everyday can be as horrific or mind-bending as any large-scale fire-&-light show. Its a growing problem in pop culture storytelling in general, not just video games. The stakes start high, then theyre getting higher and higher as these stories expand and are built upon to the point that it all just becomes too much. The epic is no longer epic, its become so commonplace that its just... boring, instead.
