Sorry this is a bit late, and I will also be donating a small amount to ALS research as well as using not one, but two types of ice in this challege. In turn, I would like to nominate Greg, Jacqueline, Aili, Hikari, and Jess (PS congrats on your engagement! :) ). Yall have 24 hours to either do the challenge or donate to ALS. Or do both. Both is good. Now the geek in me says its brief science time. ALS (Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis) is a disease that causes degeneration in several parts of the brain. Whats most notable, though, is that this is through protein degradation, which not only destroys neurons that send these messages, but also cause the formation of protein-rich plaques on the neurons, further inhibiting signals to the rest of the body. This pattern has actually been seen in several other diseases, and though wat specifically causes it is unclear, it is likely that with a cure of ALS would come the cure for many other equally-devastating diseases.
