Thank you Maura White for your nomination to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I LOVED your video and I’m inspired by the sensation this challenge has generated and the funds raised for this important cause. In honor of your grandfather and others I know suffering from ALS, I have donated to the organization. My hope is a cure is found soon. Observing the success of the Ice Bucket Challenge, I’ve been contemplating the acts of viral social media moments used to awaken awareness to critical issues that desperately need attention and remain under-reported. With the coming of People’s Climate March on September 21st, the International Day of Peace, I’ve been thinking about water and ice and drought and the melting Artic wondering about ways to move attention toward other necessary organizations that desperately need funding now that ALS has been so successful. Water Is Life is an organization I also want to support…so instead of tipping a bucket of water on my head, I’m going to ask others to check out this worthy organization in honor of the Earth and all who depend upon her glorious resources: waterislife. My request is all who can afford to at this time, pay it forward by giving to an organization that deals with the environment this month . . . and let’s sustain the compassionate impulse to GIVE to OTHERS who NEED it MOST.
