Thank you, Nat Geo, for using your platform to talk about Pit Bulls. While Im not a fan of Cesar Milans training (sorry Cesar folks), I really appreciated a few things: 1. thank you for pointing out that the general use of the term pit bull refers to a Type of dog - NOT a breed (if this is the only thing people remember: hallelujah) 2. thanks for talking so openly about gameness and responsible breeding 3. thanks for emphasizing proper ownership to include exercise and training, and what happens when dogs go without... 4. thank you for highlighting the plight of pit bull type dogs in shelters, and the shelter employees who must make impossible decisions against even more impossible odds Spoiler Alert: The 5 zillion dog fighting scenes were tough to watch, and the clip with the breeder who also rescues was a weird dichotomy, but, it is our reality. If I had a say, every would-be Bully owner or animal advocate would see this Special as part of the learning journey.
