Thank you all for donating yesterday at the clothing drive. We filled up that truck! The throw back part of me wanted to yell, Driver Move That Truck! Its some awesome to have so many supporters around us. I had the pleasure of seeing an old high school friend, Rene Murberger Yates, and meeting her awesome some Gabriel. He walked right up to me and gave me a big hug. I had to share with you all what he is doing and tell you more about him. Gabriel Yates is a 9 year old boy who attends Pine Haven Elementary. He plays football and basketball. He has a big heart and loves everyone. He decided to grow his hair out and donate it to children that have Cancer. He doesnt understand why everyone that can grow their hair doesnt donate hair to this cause. This year he has asked for nothing from Santa and wants us to donate stuffed animals or other items to ACH. He also wants everyone to bring canned goods and new hats, gloves, and scarfs for needy families to his birthday party in Jan. He wants to open a Non-profit organization when he turns 12. When asked why he wants to help and give to others, he always responds that it is because he lost his home to a house fire on Christmas 2010, when he was 5 and he knows how it feels to have to depend on the kindness of others for every day necessities. We had nothing and the people of our community, Saline County was so thoughtful and caring and they didnt have to do that. This is one awesome kid helping all the brave fighters like my son Caleb. These kids continue to amaze me and teach me about what really matters in life. I am so very thankful for you all!
