Thank you for the add. I saw the list of suggested groups on the side and saw this one. How neat. We are in Martinsburg, WV. Live on about 20 acres, but use about the first 7 of it. The rest is forest and streams and rocks and unable to farm. Our bumper crop has been red and white potatoes. We have tried corn and the deer just eat it up. This year, we planted red potatoes on the acre and some vine plants like watermelon and cantaloupe. We added a small vegetable garden that we have growing broccoli, red cabbage, cucumbers, different varieties of pepper, tomatoes, corn in a container, and strawberries. I planted a few weeks ago carrots, spinach and beets. We had to put seven dust on the potato leaves...the bugs were eating the leaves up. Our broccoli went to seed too fast before we could harvest it. I do have a question - red cabbage. The leaves are ginormous...and not even getting a head yet. Do we tear off the leaves for it to grow? We just figured to try it this year. Nice to meet you and hope to see some good farm information.
