Thank you friends for the tremendous support and interest to learn the art of imitation bonsai tree making. To be honest, I made one wild berry tree last month and posted in two groups.Over night pressure from art lovers to learn about more. made me gittery.I have to explain the method to at least five hundred followers, apart from answering questions in groups. Today I am free. I will be slow and steady.Last month, I did not know about a page in Face Book.I have to knock the doors of youngsters to help me, My niece Sunanda came to the rescue. She designed a page and asked me to go ahead. Today I am confident and feel happy that at 74, a visually handicapped person can still contribute some thing to the art lovers. Please bear with me if am irregular or not very clear in making you understand. The tremendous support from my immediate family and friends over the years in taking me to libraries for reference and getting me all that I needed to experiment always made me feel that what I know should be shared, hence the beginning . Many comments and suggestions came after I posted the pomegranate tree.I value them all . Though I will be using things around the house first, some things have to be bought occasionally .I use simple home made containers which are cost effective.when I went shopping for a real bonsai container, after hunting many places neither the size nor the shape was good apart from the exorbitant price .So if you want to set the tree in a good, container, first get the container and then start the tree.Keep all basic things handy.Keep a wet cloth when you use fabric paint and wipe your hand often. This way paint will not stay under the nails. I was a member of a bonsai club in Coimbatore not as grower but as an art lover. When great masters of this art from Japan and china converted throw away bush into a beautiful piece of art I was spell bound.I was dreaming of imitation bonsai from then.so now, when I am trying an artificial bonsai I want to respect the masters by following the simple rules of Bonsai. They create a tree over many years and we can replicate in one month. So read a lot about this in Net, and enjoy making. In my earlier posts I have already discussed in detail the techniques of trunk making.when you make trunk try to make two of each style that you experiment. If you gift one, other one is ready for the next tree.when making flowers make two lots and save. Same with fruits and leaves. We need 8 Pomegranate but make 20. The effort and time will be saved . Here we are going to start making Pomegranate.keep fine sand paper and Thermocol from packing material( they are strong and does not lose shape while cutting and sand papering. You can also buy a sheet of one inch -2 cm thick Thermocol sheet). I make my own balls so that I can make two or three sizes . After applying clay the ball will become fatter and we dont want to make bigger than 3 cm diameter after finish. One of the followers says balls are readily available in Itsy Bitsy store. Cut 8 cubes using fine craft knife.Use it like saw so the Thermocol will not peel off.Cut off sharp corners and keep grinding on sand paper till it becomes round.some irregular shape only brings it closer to nature. The smallest ball is about 1.5 cm diameter.if I find I will post some pictures. Here is a hint- you can make any fruit in this method. So that is for today. If you have doubts ask me in the comment box. Dont message in page.I act get it in I pad.
