Thank you to all who watched my video. 4500 people shared and saw the last Facebook post, so thank you so much. My network of 700 doctors is just now getting to see the video and it has caused quite a stir (in a good way). If you havent watched it, certainly worth one hour of a very long life.....its long, but moves fast and is an hour well spent. This weeks post is about animal fat and our ancestors. I think we would all agree that it would make the most sense to eat the foods to which our bodies have had the MOST TIME to GENETICALLY ADAPT to .....correct?! Weve certainly had plenty of time to adapt to fish, and meat, and birds, and fruit, and veggies......but if it takes 50,000-100,000 years for our genes to adapt to something new in the environment....and its only been 10,000 since we started eating oatmeal, and cereal, and pasta, and healthy whole grain bread.........dont you think were more adapted to animal products? This is what our bodies have seen for 2.5 million years, so it should be what helps us to thrive. Turns out that the research has been done on the subject. In the year 2000, the US and Australia analyzed the diets of 229 hunter gatherer populations which survived long enough to have their diets analyzed by anthropologists. 20% of these populations subsisted ENTIRELY on animal products with ZERO fruit, vegetable, root, or anything else...and they thrived. Only 14% of hunter gatherer societies got MORE THAN HALF of their calories from plants. NOT A SINGLE HUNTER GATHERER POPULATION WAS VEGETARIAN, AND WHEN GIVEN THE CHOICE, HUNTER GATHERER POPULATIONS INVARIABLY CHOSE THE FATTEST MEAT THAT COULD BE FOUND TO SUBSIST ON. All told, ⅔ of the calories of hunter gatherer diets were from animals and ⅓ from plants. The modern diet........60% of calories coming from cereal grains, dairy, beverages, vegetable oils and dressings, and sugar and candy.......doesnt in any way resemble the diet of our hunter gatherer ancestors......who were leaner, taller, and didnt suffer from the diseases caused by modern food.....obesity, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and cancer........by all accounts these are MODERN diseases and provoked by eating a LOW FAT diet. Calculate your current diet......see where you fall in terms of protein, fat, and carbs. Im at about 25% - 30% protein, 50% fat, and 20% carbs (fruit and veggies). This proportion promotes leanness in most.
