Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Brown family - TopicsExpress

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Brown family with your clothing, necessity and monetary donations. A fund has been setup for anyone who would like to donate to the Brown family at: gofundme We did want to give a special thanks to Valerie Songer, Beth Meyer and EJ Michel for their help today along with Joey White, Bryce Harter, Mitchell Mundy, Jack Michel, Chad Meyer, Brandon Oxley, Connor Oxley, Michaela Greer and all the other high school students and parents who helped out today. Finally, My son loves the Grinch film (and weve watched it about 100 times the past two weeks) based on the book by Dr. Seuss. As much as we consider this a story for children, the Grinch makes a great point (Ill get to that at the end) in regards to Christmas when all the families come together and celebrate the true meaning of this season in a time of adversity when the Grinch thought he successfully stole their Christmas. Today, I couldnt help but think of the image of the families standing around the tree, holding hands together in their town singing and celebrating their community despite the adversity the Grinch handed them and taking away all their possessions and gifts...after speaking with Kirk Brown only about 15 hours after the tragedy that image of the Whos made me think of them as he was standing tall and strong as a father. We all need each other at various points of our lives. As we preach to our players, it is not a matter of IF adversity will hit but WHEN. When it does hit, we pull tighter and do not allow that challenge to tear us apart. We pride ourselves on a strong foundation based upon the model of a strong family in which the whole is greater than the parts strengthened by our trust in each other. Today, we had a team, school and community come together to help a family who was kicked in the teeth on Christmas Night. The Browns have a strong foundation as a family and will thrive (not just survive) through this adversity. Anyone who knows this family also knows that if the roles were flipped and it was our time to deal with such a challenge that they would be right there with us...it just happened to be our turn to stand by our teammate (family) that is hurting...thats what families do, thats what teams do, thats what communities do (and dont take those three groups for granted). I say this often and every year at our banquet and I mean it...it aint like this everywhere...appreciate what we have here and I mean this entire area as individuals from Jasper, Ferdinand and all around stopped in today. We dont always get along and we dont always like each other it when push comes to shove, we come together. And with the Who community standing together, the Grinch finally came to realize what Christmas was all about...
