Thanks, Hector, for this interesting interpretation on the concept of male privilege and the myth of female oppression. I found the last part about control to be the most profound. I read somewhere that its an attempt to create an original sin kind of thing. If youre a man, even if youre a nice, kind, gentle person, you are tainted by the sin committed by other men. It makes sense, it puts you in a position of not being able to consider yourself good, and needing to redeem yourself because of something you didnt even do. It puts you in a position of having to prove youre a good person from the start, and its a form of control because it creates the false dichotomy of do what I say or accept you benefit from rape/DV/patriarchy. - Jessica
