Thanks for adding me. Ive just started collecting vintage machines and recently picked up a Necchi BU Mira. I must say Its awesome. I got the Necchi BU Mira rewired and working today and Im really impressed with it. Very smooth machine and I am seeing what the Necchi lovers are saying about the precision engineering. This one is a keeper, ( unless I find a better cosmetic condition one to replace it). It has a 1.1 amp motor which is nice. Sorry if this has already been posted but I found this blog where a guy likes to modify these Miras with gear reduction to slow it down and give it even more punching power for thick materials. The Mira does have a slow speed setting, but it is a voltage speed reduction/limitation, and not mechanical gear reduction. It seems to me that the machine has more power on the higher speed setting than the low, so I think doing this mechanical gear reduction will make it and even better machine. Just so happens that one of my basic Kenmores needed more work than I wanted to put into it at the moment so I scavenged the gear reduction pulleys and belts to do the mod on my Mira. The second two pics are not my machine, theyre from the blog of the guy that mods them. Ill report back after I finish the mod and post the results. Heres a video from the same blog of the mod: https://youtube/watch?x-yt-cl=84359240&x-yt-ts=1421782837&v=hXOLtB2owRs#t=50
