Thanks for all the neurologist / neurosurgeon recommendations, - TopicsExpress

Thanks for all the neurologist / neurosurgeon recommendations, friends. Got so much feedback that I decided to see if anyone has experience with my specific issues. Was talking to a particularly fit friend whom I admire and learned that she had spinal surgery 19 years ago. You never know until you ask, right? Learned in my 20s that I have Spina Bifida Occulta. This is a congenital condition that normally does not cause any problems except to make you more susceptible to low back pain. Have always taken care to keep my body strong and use good form when exercising. Proud to say this has worked pretty well so far, but just learned that the type of multi-vertebral (L3, 4, and 5) SBO I have can have other complications. MRI showed Diastematomyelia (split spinal cord) with a tethered spinal cord and sacral nerve root sheath cysts. Plain as mud, right? Does this ring a bell for anyone? Would love to know which doc you used and what your experience was. The good news is that there is a reason for all of the lower extremity issues over the past few months. I am not just falling apart due to age. ;-) Bad new is that I am kind of freaking out over the thought of spinal surgery. Prayers are coveted and appreciated.
