Thanks for sharing Missy Futato (ZCC) “Be patient, then brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rain” (James 5:7). Patience is a virtue…one I don’t usually possess. Did the farmer have to wait six months for his land to produce crops? My patience has been tested in six month intervals lately through my husband’s military deployments overseas. James goes on to say in verse 9, “Don’t grumble against each other brothers”. Oh and I’ve done some grumbling over the six month time periods as well. Lack of patience and grumbling are often combined when you are dealing with a bad wifi connection while skyping your husband to tell him that the cars broke down..yes, plural cars, and the basement has flooded! So how does one develop patience in dealing with everyday problems, without grumbling. Well I guess knowing that “The Judge is standing by the door” should make us stop and think about our actions. As Christians, we need to be living examples of how Christ has changed our lives and how He would want us to behave. Non-believers need to see that we can handle situations because we know that the Lord is going ahead of us, handling our situations, already knowing the outcome, and loving us despite the way we handle the bumps in the road. Through these recent deployments, I’ve learned to trust God to get me through, and to be patient. The Air Force is going to change my husband’s return date several times, but God’s perfect timing will always bring him home just in time for a wonderful family reunion.
