Thanks to Baron Peter von Andres for sharing this great miniseries clip. Says Baron Peter, For those who have the time and patience, heres Part I of the nine-hour film WAGNER (1983), starring Richard Burton as the controversial German composer in one of his final roles. Directed by Tony Palmer and filmed in more than 200 separate locations over seven months and in six countries, this ambitious and reasonably accurate biopic premiered as a TV miniseries on British television. Despite its length and critical reviews stating that Burton was too old to play the young composer, WAGNER is an exhilarating experience with gorgeous European locations, an outstanding cast (including the three great English actors Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson sharing scenes together) and Wagners resplendent music conducted by the great Hungarian conductor Sir Georg Solti as incidental music on the soundtrack.... youtube/watch?v=_7oWZq_s_Sk
