Self-Portrait You wear your hat the way a child might clutch his prize teddy-bear, a comfort and consolation, warm and light, assuring you of your place in the world, a Bohemian artist, respectable in green tie and casual jacket, gazing past us, looking into abstract distance at lighthouses, empty rooms, figures lit by half-light amused at the thought how we fool ourselves into thinking we belong here.
