Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. I am lucky to have all of my immediate family located here in Maine, so every year weve gathered together for dinner. Afterward we might rake leaves, throw a football in the yard, catch part of a football game on television, or watch the snow fall depending on the year, but its always been a tradition for us to spend time together, and to eat well In younger and simpler years, the day after Thanksgiving was always a day devoted to my gaming friends. We would gather as early as we could, start the coffee, then play games all day and probably into the night. Leftovers would be shared with all who arrived and we would, again, eat well. I think it must have been Peter Rice who said something like, Thanksgiving, all of the gluttony, with none of the guilt. That balance of time devoted to family and gaming friends is not quite the same as it once was for me, but I am delighted to hear from many of you that youll be making time for gaming at some point over the Thanksgiving weekend. Its always been a special time of family and friends, without the heightened anxiety that seems to arrive in December. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. As we give thanks this year for all that we have, and for those that we have, I will say a word for this club as well. It is an extraordinary group of interesting people, engaged in a wonderful hobby. We are lucky to be in Maine, where we have such a vibrant gaming community, and such excellent gaming colleagues throughout New England (and all those displaced Maine wargamers scattered about the globe).
