That blue circle in the top photo is the end-view of a 55 gallon plastic barrel in the rafters of our barn. It was converted to an owl box about 5 years ago and this spring a pair of barn owls decided to have a brood in there. The bottom photo is a shot through the door with one of the little critters looking my camera in the eye. Sorry the shot isnt better - I was standing on the top of a 12 foot orchard ladder with both hands trying to steady the camera. I was also bracing for a mama owl to come swooping out of her hiding spot to kill me. (Im probably too big for her to drag my body through the door but I know the little critters would have loved to get a piece of this!)
