That’s a winning company.... The store was close to our campsite, prices were reasonable, it was clean and open 24 hours! It was a huge store and I had never heard of it, but it was a pleasant shopping experience. They keep prices low by having relatively low turnover of their team, stocking quality products at good prices, but not too much variety. Their employees own the company. The company prides itself in the fact that the employees own it and they take pride in their organization. A recent Time Magazine online article called the company “WalMart’s worst Nightmare.” It is hard to know whether that is true or not, but one thing for sure is competition keeps the world spinning. WinCo, short for Winning Company is based in Boise, Idaho and has stores across the northwest. The privately owned company has not tapped into the public market for expansion capital and is growing from their own capital at this point. The business model of companies like WinCo offer hope that even when a leader takes over an industry for a season, there is always another company that longs to be the best. No company has the luxury of relying on their past successes. It is our opinion that companies that value their employees have a strong competitive advantage over others who don’t share their value. Valued employees lead to valued customers! Capitalism is a beautiful thing! Keep the faith! kt
