The 10/40 Window is the area of the world between latitudes 10 - TopicsExpress

The 10/40 Window is the area of the world between latitudes 10 degrees and 40 degrees north of the equator in the Eastern Hemisphere, covering North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The window contains most of the worlds areas of greatest physical and spiritual needs, most of the worlds least reached peoples and most of the governments that oppose Christianity. Two-thirds of the worlds population is located in the 10/40 window. In areas of the 10/40 window, there is only one missionary for every one million people. In the year 2000 it was projected there would be over one billion Muslims and Hindus in the 10/40 window. Some of the problems of the 10/40 window are starvation, disease, economic disaster, religious persecution, government and political breakdown, and insufficient living conditions. But far above all of these, is the need of the gospel of Christ. The gospel is the hope for all nations, including the ones in the 10/40 window. Out of every $1,000 given in North American churches, five cents is given to reach the one billion Muslims who will die and spend an eternity in Hell, separated from God, apart from His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said to His disciples during His time on earth, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Matt 9:37). As we can see, His statement is no less true today. Think about this… Every day, more than 70,000 people die in this world without having ever heard the gospel of Jesus Christ! Considering the great number of unreached people, the number of missionaries it would take to reach them all in our lifetime is staggering! If 25,000 new missionaries were raised to send each missionary would have to reach 186,000 people personally. So we triple it! 75,000 new missionaries! Each missionary would have to reach 62,000 people! It is mind boggling! Jerry Rankin said, “We will never reach the world through missionaries alone.” Church, the labor before us is formidable, and were it not for the power of the Holy Spirit of God the work would be beyond us. Yet, I believe the words of the Apostle Paul spoken to the ancient church in Philippi, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13
