The 2003 Confederations Cup was marred by the death of Marc-Vivien Foé, who collapsed during the match between Cameroon and Colombia. His death shocked the entire world. Today is the 10th anniversary of the tragic event. On 26th June, 2003, Cameroon and Colombia lined up to play the semi-final and the Manchester City midfielder was part of the starting eleven. In the 75th minute, Foé suffered a heart attack and fell to the ground. The medical staff did their utmost to revive the Cameroonian, but their efforts were in vain. The Confederations Cup was never the same again. Although Cameroon played in the final against France, the team was no longer focussed on the competition. France won the cup thanks to a Henry goal on 98 minutes. The striker dedicated the goal to Foé together with the rest of his teammates in a celebration which will never be forgotten. During the trophy presentation, Desailly called over the Cameroon players and they stood in front of a large photo of the deceased player.
