The 2012 movie Lincoln was phenomenal for many reasons. It is basically a truthful retelling an important era that added to the character of the nation. I really dont think any better choices could have been made in casting, with Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and Tommy Lee Jones as the President, Mrs. Lincoln, and Thaddeus Stevens respectively. Scarily very similar facially to the roles they played. Very appropriate that so much of the movie was filmed in Richmond, Virginia (as well as Petersburg), former capital of the Confederate States of America. The chambers of the Virginia General Assembly are so familiar to me as the chamber of the 1860s US House of Representatives. And I loved the shot of the State Capitol rotunda with the Houdon statue of George Washington in the center.
