The 2015 budget bill that passed Congress today was a slap in the face to every United States Postal Worker in this country. While the Postal Service is being systematically dismantled piece by piece in the interest of Corporate Greed and Privatization Congress failed to delay the closing of 82 processing plants and the degradation of mail delivery standards to go into effect in January 2015. The cosigned moratorium letters in reality were meaningless pieces of paper in hindsight. Despite the public outcry from citizens across the country to save the postal service congress turned a deaf ear. It is seriously time for True Labor Leaders across this country to get away from party politics. If you think that D means your representative is a friend of labor then your head is in the sand. The fact is that our system is so corrupted that Postal Unions cannot compete in a world where corporate dollars continue to be the dominate factor that decides what laws are passed by the puppets who occasionally give us lip service or throw a bone our way. Hold on to your seat the ride has just begun and 2015 will prove to be the most challenging year in history for postal workers. I will be there to fight our fight but hope George Askew does not end up like George Custer making one Last Stand!
