The Aberdare or Nyandarua mountains are an isolated volcanic range - TopicsExpress

The Aberdare or Nyandarua mountains are an isolated volcanic range that form the easternmost wall of the Great Rift Valley, to the east of the high Kinangop Laikipia plateau,in the higher areas of this mountains is a forest that forms the 762 square Kilometers of Aberdare National Park which is under Kenya Wildlife Service. The aberdare is home to a population of 1900 resident elephants. As mentioned earlier the Rhino Ark is a charitable organisation devoted to protecting this critical habitat by putting up a fence, strong enough to resist elephant pressure, powered by electricity to keep wildlife within and curb illegal log extraction, snaring, poaching of wildlife (especially elephants, rhino and the rare and elusive bongo) from without. The people living around this areas are now happy people as cases of land, crops and house destruction by wild animals are very rare. #ivorybelongstoelephants
