The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs - TopicsExpress

The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs in uninspired fashion by a final of 20-7 in Starkville Saturday night. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was 18-of-32 for 187 yards on the game, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Despite a rocky road to this victory, McCarron further cemented his place in the Crimson Tide record books; he holds school records in passing yards and touchdowns, and now holds the record for total offensive yards. Tide running back T.J. Yeldon went over 1,000 yards on the season with 160 yards on the night, but had a critical fumble in the game. Yeldon’s backup, Kenyan Drake, saw little action. Drake carried 4 times for a mere 28 yards, but also coughed up the ball. Defensively Alabama was solid, holding Mississippi State to just 197 total yards. Bulldogs QB Tyler Russell was 15-of-24 for 144 yards and an interception. Russell did not finish the game; his backup, freshman Damian Williams was 0-of-5 passing. Despite the lackluster win, Alabama is 10-0 and heads back to Tuscaloosa next week for the final home game of the season against UT Chattanooga. It will be a chance for Alabama to regroup and get focused, as Auburn is coming off a stunning last-second win against Georgia, and has the week off before hosting Alabama in the Iron Bowl.
