The Alexandra Park Railway Station. The station was opened in 1892 by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. In 1923 it was renamed Wilbraham Road station to avoid confusion with the North London suburb of Alexandra Park ! By the 1930s the line was used mainly for express trains (0-45 in 3 hours)! In 1958 the station was closed to foot passengers, whilst the line continued to be used by express and freight trains. This continued until 1969 when the terminus was closed during the Oh Dr Beeching, what have you done cuts. The line was used only by freight trains. in 1988 the line closed completely.
