The American Indians/Native Americans were in our land many centuries before the Europeans came. Many Indian names still identify thousands of locations throughout our nation. The state of Florida has an abundance of these names. We have become so accustomed to many of them that we do not even think about our predecessors who have left their mark with us. I have listed some of these names in Florida to remind ourselves of a great part of our heritage. Some are places of past communities. Many of the names have been revised, but still remind us of those who were here before us. See how many you recognize and how many others you can name.
