The American Robins I mentioned before that have been - TopicsExpress

The American Robins I mentioned before that have been overwintering in the area of NCC trail 51 are still present. As I had hoped it seems that they have attracted the attention and company of roaming Bohemian Waxwings (BOWA). I originally spotted a flock of about 30 BOWA flying north at the northwest corner of the field. Later on I saw about 12 more flying north from the southeast corner of the field area. On my way out I ran into a large flock where the robins usually hang out. In the section of woods near the Walkley Rd. entrance. There are many fruiting shrubs/bushes in this area, I believe they are mostly buckthorns. The birds were hard to approach and were very wary so I decided to pick a popular tree and go sit underneath it. Eventually an American Robin came back and landed in the tree above me. After that the BOWAs came back and I was able to take many photos and videos. Ill post a few of them below. Bohemian Waxwing NCC Trail 51 25-01-2015
