The BCC Green Schools Committee would like to welcome all students - TopicsExpress

The BCC Green Schools Committee would like to welcome all students back to school. Here is a reminder of what we did last year: We started by putting together our committee and carrying out our environmental review of the school and grounds. A green schools slogan was decided upon and this is clearly displayed on our green schools board in the main foyer of the school. The green schools notice board is located upstairs for all students to see and contains information about all our activities and also our action plan. We got the brown food bins, designed posters for all bins detailing what can go into each and the woodwork dept. made shelves to raise the brown food bins off the ground. 2nd year art students took part in the junk kouture competition creating outfits from recyclable materials. We set up a recycling stand for clothes, batteries, stamps and olds mobile phones with the proceeds going to various childrens charities. We held poster, slogan and logo competitions as part of our green schools week and TY students also carried out a spring clean of the school and surrounding areas. Litter, waste and recycling facts were displayed around the school for students to read and a photocopying analysis is being carried out with an aim for staff to reduce the amount of paper being used. The Facebook page was set up and weekly facts are uploaded along with other info about green schools. Also members of the green school committee went to roll call classrooms and brought all students up to date with what we did. We hope to get our green flag this year but to get it we need all students and staff to use the correct bins, pick up any litter on the ground and use everything else you have learned about being green. Here are some pictures from last year.
