The Bee Gees did not write ANY songs for Saturday Night Fever. (A movie I love) It just so happened that it fit so perfectly. Disco in the early mid seventies was NOT what it became later. In Miami and New York and probably L.A. it was funky edgy extreme get down hip. Otherwise Saturday Night Fever would have never been. And it was needed. Late seventies music with ridiculous corporate rock strangle hold was going nowhere. Radio completely sucked, unlistenable. And the club scene was becoming the same. Everything needed a jolt! And this combination did it. The whitebread version of disco didnt even measure up to the original. But it was a helluv a lot better then anything else that was going on at the time especially club wise. It was the biggest jolt since Beatlemania. And helped open the door to what came forth in the eighties. The very best disco that followed was dynamic. The rest belongs in the trash like all trash. I took the best at the time as in everything. To me it was exhilarating and freeing. And if you were a part of it silly as it may seem now a helluv alot of fun.
