The Bhutanese (Leading the way.....) Saturday 21 September, 2013 MoWHS Minister, Lyonpo Dorji Choden graced the event as the Chief Guest The fourth construction expo, aimed at providing a platform for generating concept and access to new technology began yesterday in Thimphu. The expo is organized by the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The Minister of the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, Lyonpo Dorji Choden graced the event as the chief guest. Lyonpo said, “Expo, such as this, will be a common platform for the contractors, architects, engineers, construction professionals, suppliers, home builders, and manufacture to come together to showcase, exhibit and exchange professional innovation and product.” “I believe that the construction expo can bring multiple and mutual benefits among the stake holders in construction industry, and it will help to promote business to business pile up with construction companies within Bhutan and beyond,” she added Secretary General of BCCI, Phub Tshering said, “The main objective of holding this expo is to create platform, whereby we get to know about the new technology, better access to better equipment and show case their product and technological development so that Bhutanese have this opportunity to get access to equipment, thereby improving construction quality.” Jain Irrigation System’s Ketan Thankhar said, “It is the first time that we are participating in this expo as we want to familiarize our business in Bhutan. We want sell at subsidized rates as our equipment are mainly meant for the farmers.” The representatives from Indian Embassy, trade and industry, private sectors and participant of the expo graced the inaugural ceremony. 60 companies from India and Bhutan are participating at the expo this year. The construction expo was first started in the year 2010. It is a five-day event.
