The Buck Stops … Over There! It’s ridiculous that as yet - TopicsExpress

The Buck Stops … Over There! It’s ridiculous that as yet another embarrassment for the White House comes to light, yet another staffer takes the blame while President Obama claims he wasn’t informed. Kathleen Sebelius has stated publicly that she is “accountable to (the American people) for fixing these problems” with the Obamacare rollout. So let’s do a quick recap. The government was shut down for weeks while the Republicans argued that Obamacare should be delayed, and the Democrats, led by President Obama, demanded the program be implemented on schedule. The republicans eventually caved, giving the tantruming president his way. The Obamacare website went online and it doesn’t work. The design of the website was contracted to inept cronies, and (surprise, surprise) it’s a pile of garbage. It crashes more often than a third-party Android app. Topping off this stellar administrative performance, President Obama once again claims that he wasn’t told there would be problems as another underling falls on her sword. Harry Truman is infamous for the sign he put on his desk stating “The Buck Stops Here!” He understood that the President is accountable, and he had the class and the dignity to stand up and take responsibility. He would be disgusted if he could see what the Presidency has become over the past five years, especially considering the fact that he was a life-long democrat. Personal accountability is a lost virtue in this country, and President Obama is setting the worst possible example. The greatest leaders have always been the men and women who give the credit to others and take the blame on themselves. That is not the tone being set at the top in this country. Our president is not setting a good example for anyone to follow. The most disappointing part? We have become desensitized to it. We expect him to lie, and we expect him to blame others, and we have accepted it as “just how things are.” The American People deserve better than this, but first we must demand better. The reality is, it’s our fault things have come to this. We need to take the blame for allowing our elected officials to act like children, we need to punish them by voting them out of office, and we need hold whoever we choose as our representatives to a higher standard. We’ve dropped the ball on this. It’s time for the citizens of this country to pick it up and make the throw. I’m sorry, Ms. Sebelius, but you are not accountable for what the President should have been aware of. We didn’t elect you to anything. The man we did elect needs to be a man and start earning our confidence back. The Pen ~ 11-1-13
