The Buddha with Ten Extraordinary Powers By Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero We have received many things in this human world. Meanwhile, we were also able to hear about the rarest and immaculate life of a Supreme Buddha. We also heard about taking refuge in the Most Exalted One (the Buddha), in the Dhamma comprised of the Four Noble Truths that He disclosed to us, and in His disciple noble Sangha. These are rare and exceptional fortunes that one could come across. Moreover, we heard about cultivating an untainted virtue (the Seela) and how to protect such excellent moral qualities. Being able to know about the Seela is also another fortunate incident of our lives. The Noble Eightfold Path was also heard by us. Our teacher, the Buddha, taught us about those ten powers as follows: “Dear Sāriputta, the Tathāgata Buddha has ten Tathāgata powers. The Tathāgata Buddha declares His greatness fearlessly with those powers. Like a roar of a lion, the Tathāgata Buddha also preaches the Dhamma valiantly in front of any number of groups of people with those powers. The transcendent Dhammachakka is turned by the Tathāgata Buddha with those powers. What are those ten powers?
