The Bulgarian school of Seattle welcomes all our students to the 2013/2014 school year, which will begin on September 15, 2013. While we all love having time and sunshine over the summer, thinking about the fall and the new school year at the Bulgarian school of Seattle is always so exciting, as we look forward to another exhilarating and challenging year of learning and growth together. The Bulgarian school is a school developing meaningful and important traditions as well as a disposition towards innovation and creative thought; what a great combination for a heritage learning environment! Add to that our fantastic teachers and our absolutely wonderful kids, and it’s an unbeatable combination. Registration starts on September 1st, 2013. The application can be found on our website: bulgarianschoolofseattle During the 2013/2014 school year, the Bulgarian school of Seattle will conduct their classes with a modified teaching schedule: SUNDAYS: Classes from 9 - 11 am will be held for the Preschoolers and the Bulgarian as a Second Language Program (BSL). Classes from 11 am - 2 pm will be held for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. This year the Bulgarian school of Seattle offers several new programs and resources for children, parents and the public, which will facilitate communication and increase the involvement in our school. "ROAD MAP OF WORLD LANGUAGES" - The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Bulgarian school of Seattle offer a program which aims to encourage the preservation of the Bulgarian language in the family, providing opportunity for Bulgarian speaking students to receive core subject credits required for high school graduation in the United States. Many schools in Washington state seek to prepare their students for the coming globalization by developing skills to communicate both in English and in other languages (in particular Bulgarian). The program Road Map of World Languages is a way to get credit for proficiency in the Bulgarian language. BULGARIAN AS A SECOND LANGUAGE - Students with weak or nonexistent knowledge of the Bulgarian language. The Bulgarian school of Seattle divides Bulgarian language training in two parts - Bulgarian language as the primary language and Bulgarian as a second (foreign) language learning BSL will follow the adapted program and standards that meet the level of American and European framework for language learning. "YOUNG JOURNALIST" - The club aims to develop communication skills for children by promoting original ideas related to life in and outside of school, to hold interesting conversations and interviews of children and their teachers, friends and community figures to show the talent of students to write and reflect certain current event or issues. YOUTH THEATER - A step for the intellectual growth. Further information on all programs and classes will be promptly posted on the website of the school. The Bulgarian school of Seattle aims to create a healthy academic environment, which is only achievable through cooperation between our continuous improvement and development of education and training programs, and working with the whole Bulgarian educational community throughout the year. Welcome to a new and successful school year!
