The C-Class was the most fuel efficient car in its class when it - TopicsExpress

The C-Class was the most fuel efficient car in its class when it was first produced late 1993. Production went on till late 2000. The C180 and C200 consume less than a Toyota premio 1800cc if they are in good working order, have the indistructible 111 engine that uses a timing chain not belt and are very reliable. What to look out for when buying a C-Class. - The 1993-1995 models have a wire harness problem. The wires were designed to decompose after the life of the vehicle but they started to fail jst after 12 years. When the insulation goes off, the wires short circuit and cause numerous problems including engine computer failure. This problem was sorted in 1996. In 1997 mercedes produced a facelift version (white). The silver one above is the old shape. The main visible difference between this one and the older version is the ignition key and the bumpers. The key on the left is the new one that has 3 buttons(open ,lock and the boot). the old one just has one button to open and close. There are over 1000 diferences between the 2 cars. My advice to anyone intending to buy a C Class is to buy the face lift version. The price difference is negligable.
