The Chicago White Sox versus the visiting New York Yankees, U.S. Cellular Field. May 22, 2014. 7:10pm CST. The White Sox have Chris Sale (LHP), 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA, returning to the rotation, as he has been on the DL for over a month. The Yankees will send David Phelps (RHP), 2 NDs and a 3.33 ERA, to the mound. Phelps replaces Michael Pineda in the Yankees rotation, as Pineda has some shoulder issues and is currently on the DL. Chris has Nintendo stuff. He will feature a 4 seam fastball (92 MPH but is capable of hitting 96 MPH) (70), a 2 seam fastball (93 MPH) (70), a changeup (84 MPH) (80), and a slider (81 MPH) (80). Chris has one of the best sliders in all of MLB. He will throw that as a 2 strike pitch against hitters on both sides of the plate. His 2 seam fastball is excellent when located well, low in the strike zone. He is able to throw from behind in counts. His changeup has excellent deception to right handed hitters. David will feature 6 pitches. He has a 4 seam fastball (91 MPH) (60), a 2 seam and cutter (90 MPH), a slider (86 MPH) (70), a changeup (83 MPH) (60), and a knuckle curveball (81 MPH) (60). Though he has 6 pitches at his disposal, he will rely on his 2 seam, slider, and knuckle curve. He will throw the 4 seam top edge of the zone, to set up his slider, and will only throw the changeup to left handed hitters. He will throw his cutter as a change of look pitch, as hitters may start to be comfortable seeing the 2 seam fastball. There will be a moderate crosswind to right field throughout the game. Expect Chris to be on a pitch count (85 to 90 pitches), he will need to work efficiently. Thats why... Go White Sox!
