The Chitauri appear in the 2006 animated movies Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2 as the main antagonists of the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. Unlike their appearance in The Ultimates, they do show their true form: seven feet tall reptilian creatures with dark greenish skin, and fire blasts from their hands.[6] A version[7] of the Chitauri[8] appear in the 2012 live-action superhero-team film The Avengers, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Lokis personal army and serve as the secondary antagonists of the film. The Hand appears to have a significant importance with the series as a whole as it is used in every single episode in the title clip. Additionally, there seems to be a pixelation artifact that has appeared on the hand during the title sequence in at least the last five episodes of season one. The artifact appears in the part of the hand just below the pinky finger on the palm, and has an arc-like shape. Anne Rices Mayfair Witches series referred to a race with six fingers.
