The Christian Social Democratic party writes about The Sun article: “Because it is based on lies, this campaign is bound to fail. But, the article Junckers Family Nazi Link in The Sun is completely factual, and does not contain any untruths. All of this is known. His father did fight in the Wehrmacht, to which he was recruited by law as Luxembourg became a Gau of the Third Reich. And his father-in-law was voluntarily, actively and openly collaborating with the Nazis, had some official functions, and lost his teaching qualifications after the war. All of this has nothing to do with Juncker directly, of course, but it is for British minds an interesting juicy detail. Clearly, he is being tainted by association. And this might be damaging enough, especially as German politicians might decide to stay silent in the future on their support. The only way to fight this is to say: Yes, both allegations are completely true. Thats why I want Europe to succeed.
