The City of Fayetteville in conjunction with the University of Arkansas Center for Applied Sustainability is holding a press conference on Thursday, October 2, 2014, in the large meeting room of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce at 4:00 p.m. to provide information to the press and public about the STAR Community Rating System and Fayetteville’s ranking and sustainability successes. The STAR Community Rating System (STAR) is the nation’s first framework and certification program for local sustainability, and it was built by and for local governments and the communities they serve. STAR provides a road map to help cities and counties evaluate and improve economic, environmental and social performance measures to become healthier and stronger. Mayor Lioneld Jordan, City of Fayetteville Director of Sustainability and Resilience Peter Nierengarten, and University of Arkansas Director of Applied Sustainability Center Director Michelle Halsell will be the primary presenters at this announcement.
