The City of Frisco says a mosquito sample has tested positive for West Nile Virus. As always during these times of year, Frisco ISD encourages students and staff taking part in outside activities to use insect repellent with DEET. In addition, the school district is actively involved in inspection and prevention, removing any standing water that is found and eliminating areas with tall grass and weeds. Students currently participating in practices are primarily doing so in open areas, on pavement, turf or on well-maintained, short grassy areas which are generally less conducive to harboring mosquitoes. The District also will make insect repellent containing DEET available as needed.
