The Communications Act is still being reviewed to incorporate emerging issues on economic regulation, consumer protection and universal service, according to MACRA. The document is currently with the Ministry of Justice. The deputy director of consumer affairs for the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority Thokozani Chimbe says they are looking forward to improved service provision after the enactment of the act. Chimbe told Capital Fm that currently there is no clear provision on regulatory sanctions which includes licensing and enforcement on service providers.
