The Cult of Celebrity worship is sweeping the world. Mere mortal - TopicsExpress

The Cult of Celebrity worship is sweeping the world. Mere mortal man and women become exalted to god-like status. They determine the values and fashion and norms and truths of society. Entertainment and sport “stars” are being idolised. Throughout history, many men and women have done great work in the world - they are humanitarians and freedom fighters. They have offered up so much, and they have made their sacrifices. Such men and women will forever be a beacon of hope and remind us of the human spirit that must never die or fade away. Indeed, they have faced dangers, they have been imprisoned, and they have endured the terrors of plague, famine and violence all for the sake of the poor and the needy and the oppressed. But despite all their incredible achievements and incredible sacrifices, they ARE NOT GOD, yet, we laud these men and women as if they are better than Jesus and that they deserve more praise and glory than our Lord. This is idolatry. Indeed, these men and women are heroes and their valiant effort shall never be forgotten, but if you listen to how people talk these days about such "celebrities" and iconic figures, you would swear these are "gods" in mortal form, as if we are talking of the gods of ancient Greece and Rome. There is no greater hero or greater humanist or greater man that ever lived than Jesus. I would like to see these iconic figures being beaten into a pulp, hang voluntary on a cross, bleed until nothing is left, take the sin of all mankind upon their shoulders, and then die all for the sake to forgive the sinner and to reconcile the lost unto Heaven. There is no else who loved more and still loves more every day than Jesus, the Son of God, who was bruised and battered for the sake of a dying world. He came from Heaven to endure a life in the flesh so that we may know hope and eternal freedom. Despite all the notable efforts of the great men and women who have fought for liberty and freedom and justice, our Lord and Saviour opened Heaven by His Blood, destroyed the power of death and sin and darkness, disarmed Satan on the cross, and His love and grace still endures for those who need to find the way out spiritual darkness. Jesus is not about love, HE is Love. He did not let the light shine, but HE is the Light. He is the Way. I will applaud the great men and women of today and yesteryear for braving the storms of life and even dying in the hope of a better tomorrow, but my knee bows only to the Lord, my admiration will only be poured out unto Him, and the deepest reserves of my love will be showered upon Him. He is the true hero of all heroes, He is the Lord of all lords, the King of all kings, and He is glorious and majestic. Only He deserves all praise and glory. He has made a way unto Salvation for all - who else can attest to this? Who else can say that their shed Blood saves the lost? Who else can say that they are the answer to all problems; they are the hope for the hopeless and the life for the dying? Lord, forgive us for our idolatry, for it is You that remains the fire and desire of our hearts. You became the greatest sacrifice of love – ridiculed and mocked on the cross of humiliation – so that Your love may heal our brokenness. Thank you Lord. Always. Amen
