The Curfew imposed by the Royal Thai Army continues around Thailand and here in Pattaya. With some exceptions, including travel to-and-from airports for those with valid air tickets, everyone must remain off the streets between 10pm and 5am. The Chief of Banglamung District, Khun Sukchai, who told us that he sympathized with business operators who were losing trade due to the Curfew and members of the public who were affected. He urged everyone to be patient and comply with the curfew order which is set to be reviewed over the weekend. He hopes to see an end to the Curfew by Monday at the latest but cannot confirm this will be the case. Further information has emerged with regards to the temporary seizure of Pattaya Police Station by Navy Officers in the early hours of Friday, who travelled from their base in Sattahip District with orders to detain Police Colonel Supachai, the Chief of the Station, who is known to have “connections” with the Red Shirt Movement. For a period of 30 minutes the station was locked down and no one, including officers on-duty, were allowed to leave unless they were attending an emergency situation. After 30 minutes the Navy officers determined the Colonel had left Pattaya so they left the station which then resumed normal operations.
